What is your greatest fear?
Realising that once my wife's baby is born I'm going to be fully responsible for someone else's life for the years to come.

What is your favourite journey?
I haven't done this trip yet but I hope to one day... A self-supported 4X4 trip from the UK down to Spain across to Morocco and the Sahara then on through Africa till I reach the light house on Cape Point.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I have always wanted to play the guitar so it would have to be that; I even have one sitting at home gathering dust. I learnt the piano as a kid but eventually gave that up as I thought it wasn't 'cool' enough although I wish I had kept that up.

What is your favourite meal?
In my opinion you can't beat a Sunday roast at your local country pub; chicken dansak with a Peshwari naan comes a close second.

What was your worst ever purchase?
A brown 1976 1.3L Ford Escort with the intention of 'customising' it into something worth cruising around my local town with. Unfortunately it stayed on my parents' drive for 2 years, never moved and was eventually towed away with me paying for the privilege.

Would you rather be a big fish in a small pond, or a small fish in a big pond?
Definitely a small fish in a big pond... Reason 1: Small fish can spend their entire lives exploring all the nooks and crannies of the pond. Reason 2: Being the big fish would mean always looking behind you to see who was trying to knock you off your perch. (Excuse the pun.)

Tell us a joke.
Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson go on a camping trip. After a good dinner and a bottle of wine, they retire for the night, and go to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see." "I see millions and millions of stars, Holmes," replies Watson. "And what do you deduce from that?" Watson ponders for a minute. "Well, astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful, and that we are a small and insignificant part of the universe. What does it tell you, Holmes?" Holmes is silent for a moment. "Watson, you idiot!" he says. "Someone has stolen our tent!"

If you could change one law of physics, which would it be and why?
A few years ago I read a book called the 'Science of Star Trek' which tried to explain if any of the fictional science of that program was actually feasible. One of the topics that interested me then was 'teleportation'. Just think of it.....no more traffic queues, long flights on cramped planes, traffic pollution or drive-in McDonalds!
