The Outward Bound Trust is the originator
of outdoor education and along with the
government and education specialists,
we recognise the significance and value
of learning outside the classroom. There
is clear evidence that learning outside the
classroom raises academic achievement
and that outdoor activity has been proven
to: develop resilience and contribute to
physical, psychological and social well being, reduce disengagement from
education, anti-social behaviour, help young
people manage risk and encourage them to
welcome challenge.
All Outward Bound courses cover aspects
of the 'Every Child Matters' agenda and
course objectives are linked to the aims of
the new National Curriculum in England and
the Curriculum for Excellence in Scotland.
