About us

Our OBA was formed in July 2002 to promote Outward Bound® and provide financial assistance and support to enable young people to attend an Outward Bound course. We have an active committee of about eight members but are always looking to welcome more. Our President is HM Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire Hugh Duberly Esq CBE and our Vice President is Peter Carpenter, Chairman of the Kurt Hahn Trust.

We want to start a '100 Club' and need your support in order to make it happen. Details and application forms are available from the chairman. Check this site for the start date.

Fundraising and events

We don't have a fundraising committee as such as we don't have enough people! However, we have received funding from trusts, our first being a substantial donation from The Fitzwilliam Trust. Last year we were lucky to be one of our local RAF station's nominated charities. We were also greatly supported by The Huntingdon Cromwell Rotary Club, who not only gave us funds but also sponsored young people to attend an open activity course.

We were at The East of England Show with representatives from The Trust who brought the climbing wall. This proved very popular with both the young and not so young and we saw nearly 500 people climb the wall over the 3 days.

How we help young people

We consider applications for grant aid from young people normally resident within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and who satisfy the enrolment criteria for any of the courses offered by The Outward Bound Trust.

What they thought

'The positive effect this trip has had on my daughter is amazing. She is happier and more confident. She is constantly on the look out for new challenges and opportunities. The young person had attended a Classic Course.

'I did things I didn't know I could do'.
