The Outward Bound Trust - Experiences
Fundraising Lunch
The Nottinghamshire Outward Bound® Association is one of twenty-two regional associations supporting the Trust and our work with schools and other organisations identifies young people who might benefit from Outward Bound courses. Our community fundraising provides them with the Bursaries they may need to cover the cost of the course, and we build long term relationships to ensure that the opportunity to experience Outward Bound is open to successive year groups.
We aim to change lives by identifying some of our most disadvantaged young people and funding some or all of the cost for them to experience an Outward Bound course.
Over the days and nights they spend on such a course, they achieve things they never thought possible. Our intervention builds confidence, compassion and self-respect in young people who need these gifts the most. The Outward Bound experience challenges young people to achieve goals beyond their aspirations, and their achievements widen their horizons forever.
We share the Outward Bound Trust's Mission "to unlock the potential in young people through discovery and adventure in the wild," and its Values:
- A belief that we all have undiscovered potential
- A belief in the power and magic of learning through adventure
- A deep appreciation of the balance between risk, reward and responsibility
- A spirit of respect and compassion
This year we will help provide the opportunity of a lifetime to more than 150 young people from the local community.
Over the next few months the Association will be planning its strategy for 2010 and onwards, and I hope that you might be able to support our mission to raise the aspirations of disadvantaged youngsters in Nottingham and the county. Our investment in their futures is also an investment in the future of our communities. |
